PGP Analysis of SCR 43/ACR 205 (Dec. 2018)

In December 2018, the Democratic-controlled New Jersey Legislature proposed an amendment to the state's Constitution that could have encouraged partisan gerrymandering in the state. The Princeton Gerrymandering Project published the following analysis of the proposed constitutional amendment, identifying issues and offering possible fixes. Citing the Princeton Gerrymandering Project’s analysis of the amendment, the New York Times editorial staff wrote, “this plan just reworks a bad setup.”
